The Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen announced a targeted military operation to neutralize threats in response to repeated attacks by the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militia.
Coalition spokesman Major General Turki al-Maliki said the operation was carried out in exercise of the legitimate right to self-defense and to protect Saudi Arabia’s territory, citizens and residents from Houthi attacks targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and Yemen with ballistic missiles and drones.
He said the operation destroyed five tunnels used to store ballistic missiles, four ballistic missile launch platforms and a missile storage facility. It also targeted Houthi fortifications, fighters and military equipment along front lines inside Yemen, while focusing on disrupting supply routes between areas under the militia’s control.
Al-Maliki reaffirmed that the Coalition’s joint forces would continue taking deterrent operational measures to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and safeguard civilians in Yemen from Houthi attacks and abuses.
He stressed that the military operation was consistent with international humanitarian law and customary international law.
