President al-Alimi: Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Directly Involved in Managing the Houthis’ War

President Rashad Mohammed al-Alimi, the Head of the Presidential Leadership Council, has warned of the growing role of Iranian Revolutionary Guard networks in supporting and directly managing the Houthi militia’s war in Yemen, including military operations, missile development, drone capabilities and threats to international shipping.
During a meeting with Clemens Hach, the Director for the Middle East and North Africa at the German Foreign Ministry, al-Alimi stated that Iran is increasing its support for the Houthis to compensate for the declining influence of its regional proxies, exploiting Yemen’s strategic location near vital international trade routes.
He warned that continued transfers of weapons, technology and military expertise to the Houthis would increase regional instability, prolong Yemenis’ suffering and threaten international maritime security.
Al-Alimi praised Germany’s support for Yemen’s internationally recognized government and called for stronger German efforts within the European Union to designate the Houthis as a terrorist organization and take measures against their networks.
He also discussed the escalation of Houthi attacks across Yemen, particularly the ongoing siege and shelling of civil areas in Taiz, as well as alleged human rights violations, including killings, abductions, enforced disappearances and the detention of UN personnel.
The president reaffirmed that Operation “Fajr Al-Yemen” would continue until its objectives of restoring state institutions and extending government authority across the country are achieved, with support from the Saudi-led Coalition to Support Legitimacy.
