Chief of the General Staff Discusses Ways to Enhance Defense, Security Cooperation with U.S. and British Ambassadors

The Chief of the General Staff and Commander of Joint Operations Lieutenant General Sagheer bin Aziz met on Thursday with the United States Ambassador to Yemen Steven Fagin.
He discussed with him ways to enhance cooperation and joint coordination in the military and security fields.
The Chief of the General Staff also met with the British Ambassador to Yemen Abda Sharif during which they discussed aspects of defense cooperation and strengthening partnership and support in the field of maritime security, as well as efforts to combat terrorism and smuggling.
During the two meetings, the Chief of the General Staff praised the supportive positions of the United States and the United Kingdom toward Yemen, its security and stability, and their support for efforts to achieve peace.
He expressed his aspiration for increased support to the Yemeni Armed Forces in a manner that contributes to raising their efficiency and developing their capabilities, enabling them to be an effective partner in enhancing maritime security.
He pointed to the efforts exerted by the Yemeni Armed Forces in combating terrorism and confronting smuggling operations by land and sea, as well as the sacrifices they make in detering the terrorist Houthi militias supported by the Iranian regime and other terrorist organizations.
He also highlighted the efforts of the Supreme Command of the Armed Forces, led by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed al-Alimi, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, with effective support and backing from the Leadership of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, aimed at unifying the military and security institutions and restoring normal conditions in the temporary capital Aden and the eastern governorates.
