Governor of CBY confers with UN Envoy over financial, economic situations

The Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen (CBY) Ahmed Ghaleb and the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General to Yemen Hans Grundberg discussed today, Tuesday, in the temporary capital Aden, the latest developments in the financial and economic situation in our country and amid the ongoing conflict in the region.

The repercussions of the recent events in the region on global supply chains, the rise in shipping and insurance costs and the fluctuations in energy and commodity prices were key focus of the talks.

They also discussed the measures taken by the Yemeni government to secure the local market’s needs for basic goods, mainly food, medicine and fuels.

The two sides emphasized the importance of enhancing coordination among various international and regional parties to support economic stability in Yemen and mitigate the severity of current challenges.
