Minister of Interior Discusses Enhanced Security Cooperation with EU Ambassador

Minister of Interior Major General Ibrahim Haidan held a virtual meeting Thursday with the European Union Ambassador to Yemen Patrick Simonnet, discussing strengthening and developing cooperation in the security sector.
The Minister praised the support provided by the European Union to the Ministry of Interior and its continued assistance to the Yemeni government’s efforts to enhance security, stability, and the capacity-building of security institutions. He emphasized the Ministry’s aspiration to expand areas of cooperation, particularly in combating illegal migration and strengthening related security capabilities.
Major General Haidan stressed the importance of security integration and coordination between Yemen and European Union member states in order to protect shared interests and address cross-border security challenges.
For his part, Ambassador Simonnet reaffirmed the European Union’s support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government.
He also expressed the EU’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Ministry of Interior across various security fields, in support of efforts to promote security and stability in Yemen.
