The Prime Minister Dr. Shaya Zindani launched today, Thursday the re-issuance of the official gazette of the Republic in the temporary capital Aden, more than 11 years after it had stopped following the terrorist Houthi militias coup against the official authority and the war they triggered at the end of 2014.
During the ceremony organized by the Ministry of Legal Affairs under the slogan “The Official Gazette… The Reference for Legislation and the Rule of Law,” Dr. Zindani delivered a speech in which he affirmed that the return of the official gazette carries great legal and institutional value.
“This launch is not just the re-issuance of a government publication, but the reopening of the legal and legislative window of the state, the official platform for publishing laws, decisions, regulations and decrees”, he said.
Zindani went on saying ” This aims to confirm that the Yemeni state and its institutions, no matter the circumstances and challenges, are capable of restoring their role and fulfilling their duties, and that what the terrorist Houthi militias try to impose by the force of arms can never become a reality or a substitute for constitutional legitimacy and state institutions”.
The Prime Minister stated that the government views the official gazette as one of the tools for government transparency and one of the mechanisms that uphold the right to know and access information.
He said “The more regularly and clearly laws and decisions are published, the less room there is for confusion and unchecked interpretations, accountability is strengthened and the application of the law becomes more consistent and fair.”
