The Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) confirmed that the state is moving forward in its struggles to restore its institutions, assert its authority over its entire national territory and put an end of the humanitarian suffering caused by the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militias.
In its meeting today, Tuesday, chaired by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Council, with the attendance of all its members—Sultan al-Arada, Tariq Saleh, Abdulrahman al-Mahrami, Dr. Abdullah al-Alimi, Othman Mujalli, Mahmoud al-Subaihi and Salem al-Khanbashi— the PLC confirmed that the armed and all military formations are well-prepared and ready to carry out their constitutional duties, take the lead and make any escalation by the terrorist militias more costly for their leadership, capabilities and sources of funding.
The meeting was devoted to discuss the developments in military, security and economic situations, and the state’s strategic options to deal with the continuous escalation by the Houthi militias, as well as to restore state institutions and end the coup.
The PLC heard reports on the field developments, the threats and criminal attacks targeting vital facilities and civilian properties, the state’s strategy for the upcoming phase and a matrix of urgent economic and security measures to improve living conditions and strengthen efforts to combat terrorism, smuggling and organized crime.
The Council urged taking all lawful and necessary measures to protect citizens, sovereign facilities and national interests, including proactive action against sources of threat, command and control centers, and military capabilities that are being used or prepared to target the armed forces, civilians and vital facilities.
The Council indicated that the armed forces’ successful operations over the past weeks sent a clear message that the time of cities being violated and civilians and national facilities being targeted without consequences, is over, and that any new escalation will have direct repercussions on the tools used to carry it out.
Regarding the economic situation, the Council approved continuing to restore the sovereign functions and resources of the state, strengthening its control over ports, revenues and national services, and combating smuggling networks and terrorism financing, according to a careful plan that protects citizens, the private sector, savings, and legal transfers, while ensuring that food, medicine and essential goods supplies are not harmed.
The PLC stressed that the state will firmly strike against any attempt to collude with smuggling networks, terrorism financing and organized crime.
The Council directed the authorities in charge to take all legal measures to pursue those involved, facilitators and beneficiaries of smuggling activities, no matter their location or status, and to hold accountable anyone found guilty or negligent in their duties, in a way that protects the national economy and state resources, and cuts off funding sources for militias and illegal activities.
Prime Minister Dr. Shaya Zindani and the Director of the Presidency Office Dr. Yahya al-Shuaibi were in attendance.
