US Embassy Says Houthis Have Brought Yemen Nothing but Suffering

The US Embassy in Yemen said the Yemeni government, armed forces and people have the capability and determination to end the aggression and terrorism of the Iran-backed Houthi militias.

In a statement posted on X, the embassy said the Houthis and their Iranian supporters had miscalculated by underestimating the resolve of the Yemeni government and armed forces, as well as the Yemeni people’s determination to end Houthi aggression and brutality.

The embassy noted that the UN Security Council had stated on August 7 that Houthi actions, backed by documented Iranian support, had triggered the current escalation.

It said the Houthi militias had brought Yemen nothing but suffering and had turned the country into a base for Iran to undermine Arab unity and security.
