Prime Minister Ahmed bin-Daghr said that the Houthi militia has never been serious about peace.

In a meeting he held with the US ambassador to Yemen Matthew Tueller in Cairo on Thursday to discuss arrangements for peace talks with the coupist militia in Geneva early September, bin-Daghr said the militia’s decisions comes from Iran.

He said that Iran is using the life and blood of Yemenis as an instrument to extort Yemen’s neighbors and the international community as part of the Persian state’s agenda to expand into and control Bab al-Mandeb strait and therefrom pose a threat to international shipping.

Highlighting the destructive and terrorist nature of the Iranian interferences, he said that Iran continues to violate the UNSC resolution 2216 by supplying the militia with ballistic missiles to attack Saudi territories and threaten international shipping lanes. He stressed the necessity of setting a limit for those interferences.

He hailed the Saudi-led Arab Coalition’s intervention which rescued Yemen from the Persian agenda and helped the government to regain control, normalize life and resume supplying basic services to the Yemeni people.

He renewed the government’s commitment to support the efforts of the UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy Martin Griffiths in mediating a permanent political solution based on the three locally and internationally agreed upon terms of reference for peace; the GCC Agreement, the outcomes of the National Dialogue and the relevant UNSC resolutions mainly resolution no. 2216.
