5 Million Yemeni workers lost their jobs due to Houthi militia’s coup

Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Dr. Ebtihaj al-Kamal said that Iran-backed Houthi militia’s coup resulted in sacking 5 million Yemeni workers about 60% of labor force in private sector in Yemen as national and foreign companies have ceased to operate in the country.
In statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) on May Day, al-Kamal said “The war waged by the Houthi coupist militia in Yemen led to the suspension of commercial and investment activities in the country.
The minister stated that government has been making its own best to improve economic situation through reinvigorating development programs and projects in different fields.
The Minister touched upon government’s measures aimed to improve peoples’ living conditions, citing President Hadi’s decree about 30% increase in salaries for all government’s employees
