The Houthi militias have closed down dozens of charity organizations in the capital Sana’a and other governorates.

The Iran-backed Houthi rebels asked businessmen and merchants to only give aids to the organizations run by Houthis who in turn force poor people to attend religious courses if they want to be provided with aids.

Moreover, The Houthis obstruct the flow of humanitarian assistance and relief to the Yemeni areas run by them.

Officials of the World Food Programme (WFP) and UNICEF held during last weeks intensified meetings with Houthi leaders in Sana’a to persuade them to release seized food trucks seized in the governorate of Ibb.

The sources said that the Houthis want to impose taxes and customs fees on assistance and reserve 30% of them for the Houthis.

They further said that the Houthis also put the condition of bringing the assistance though Hodeida Airport which is run by them.
