Army removes 300 thousand landmines in the liberated regions

The engineering teams of the national army forces have removed more than 300 thousand of landmines which planted by Houthi militiamen in the liberated areas over the last two years.

Director of the national center for controlling landmines, Brigadier Ameen Al-Akaili stated that Yemen has been subjected to the largest landmines-plant operation since the end of the Second World War.

“No other country in the Middle East and North Africa has been suffered from the landmines calamity more than Yemen”, said Al-Akaili.

He added that engineering teams of the army have removed 40 thousand landmines from the fronts of Marib province.

The total number of landmines that Iran-backed Houthi militia has planted are estimated at above half million, according Al-Akaili.
