FM: next meeting of Yemen Quartet in Aden

Foreign Minister Khalid al-Yamani confirmed that the next meeting of the Yemen Quartet will be held in the interim capital of Aden.

 

“The Quartet, made up of KSA, UAE, US and UK, is going to hold its upcoming session in Aden after one month” the Arabic language-version Independent quoted Minister Al-Yamani as saying.

 

He said the consensus of the quartet is a support for legitimacy, which exerts great efforts on the ground to meet the needs of citizens, pay salaries, and provide services.

 

Commenting on the Quartet meeting in London last Friday, al-Yamani said, “The London meeting came out with an important messages, foremost is the impossibility of going to any political talks before the implementation of the Stockholm Agreement.

 

” The meeting also agreed on united a position against “Iran’s attempts to destabilize Yemen, by supporting the Houthis with ballistic missiles the militia has fired on civilians in Yemen and Saudi Arabia, as well as supporting them with Iranian-made drones”.

 

According to Minister Al-Yamani, the Stockholm Agreement enters its fifth month without implementation, because of the procrastination of the Houthi militia, which declares its support for the agreement, but delaying its implementation.

 

He explained that Iran is using the Houthis to serve its imperial dreams and actions to relieve international pressure against it, the backdrop of its nuclear and ballistic weapons programs.

 

On the meeting of the House of Representatives, which took place in the middle of this month in the city of Sayoun, Hadramout province, Al-Yamani said the meeting received “welcome messages from the permanent members of the Security Council, as well as from the international envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths.” He pointed out that support received by the House of Representatives from various international parties refer to the the true international recognition of Yemeni legitimate government.
